About The Role
Magdalene is a leading Telecom Services Supplier offering a complete end-to-end service across the UK and Ireland. Magdalene provides specialist services to our clients in the fixed, mobile and utilities infrastructure networks for both public and private sectors of the market.
What will you be doing?
As aField Engineer,your role will involve installation and commissioning, 1st line reactive maintenance and working at height to support our contracts.
This a UK role based in Northern Ireland so there will occasionally be requirements to work away from home and you will need a full driving licence.
You will work on a fixed hours basis Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 (37.5 hours per week). Plus, a rotational on-call rota after passing a 6-month probation so that we can deliver services to our customers 24/7, 365 days a year. On-call allowance is £325 per week.
What will your key responsibilities be?
- Preparation and termination of radio frequency (RF) feeder, electrical (DC), fibre and copper cables.
- Performing industry standard testing as required on telecoms and antenna systems e.g. radio frequency (RF) sweeps, ethernet and network testing.
- Equipment installation and commissioning across various projects and technologies.
- Wiring and connection of DC power to telecoms equipment to required standards and regulations.
- 1st Line Support and troubleshooting of customer equipment to include, however not limited to mobile network equipment, data-comms equipment, switching equipment, VOIP management systems.
- Planned preventative maintenance.
- Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) creation and work area/vehicle management.
- Completion of site surveys to enable installation.
- Understand our customers needs and work to meet our contractual obligations.
Required skills and experience are we looking for?
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience working as a Field Engineer in the Telecoms sector - use of equipment; Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave installation and working at height (up to 100 metres).
- A strong set of IT skills which would include the Microsoft Office products, basic DOS commands, mobile phone work apps and online time sheets.
- Analytical skills and logical thinking to assist in fault diagnosis and resolution.
- An interest in new equipment & technology and keenness to learn about it.
